Raquel Marques

Born in 1979, she is a filmmaker, teacher, and trainer who works in the fields of documentary creation, image pedagogy, and film education from a feminist perspective. She is a partner and co-responsible for the educational projects team at the Drac Màgic cooperative (Barcelona), dedicated to the study and dissemination of cinema and audiovisual culture.

She holds a degree in Communication Sciences, specializing in Cinema (Universidade Nova de Lisboa, 2003) and a Master’s in Creative Documentary (Universitat Pompeu Fabra, 2015).

In 2010, she made her first documentary with Joana Frazão, “A Casa Que Eu Quero,” a Terratreme Filmes production. With a pre-premiere at the Portuguese Cinematheque (Lisbon), the film was selected to represent Portugal in Doc Europa II. She is the author of films such as “Um mergulho em água fria” (2024), which premiered at the Málaga Festival, receiving a special mention from the official documentary section jury; “Una ciudad dentro de una ciudad” (2024), which premiered at the D’A Film Festival; “Tiempos de deseo” (2020), which premiered at DocLisboa and L’Alternativa, winning an award at the Alcances Festival; and “Arreta” (2016), awarded at the Zinegoak Festival and selected for the Márgenes Festival, Cinespaña Festival, among others.

As a teacher and trainer, she has extensive experience in coordinating, conceptualizing, and leading projects and courses related to education and film creation, aimed at groups in different life stages.
