Ico Costa is a Portuguese film director and producer, who works between Portugal and Mozambique.
Among other works he directed the short films FOUR HOURS BAREFOOT (Rome, 2012), NYO VWETA NAFTA (Rotterdam, 2017), TIMKAT (Visións du Réel, 2021) and DOMY+AILUCHA: KET STUFF! (Cinéma du Réel, 2022), the documentaries UPROAR, ECLIPSE (Doclisboa, 2017) and BALANE 3 (CPH:DOX, 2025), and the fiction feature films ALVA (Rotterdam, 2019) and GOLD SONGS (IndieLisboa/FIDMarseille, 2024).
In 2019 he founded the production company Oublaum Filmes, which has recently produced the films STRIKING LAND (Raul Domingues, Berlinale, 2022), WATERS OF PASTAZA (Inês T. Alves, Berlinale, 2022), TOMORROW IS A LONG TIME (Jow Zhi Wei, Berlinale, 2023), THE HUMAN SURGE 3 (Eduardo Williams, Locarno, 2023), SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING BORROWED (Hernán Rosselli, Director’s Fortnight of Cannes, 2024) and THE MEMORY OF BUTTERFLIES (Tatiana Fuentes Sadowski, Berlinale, 2025).
