Rui Pires

Director, editor and screenwriter, graduated from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema in 2005. He is the director of the documentary O PALÁCIO DE CIDADÃOS, filmed for a year in the Assembly of the Republic, supported by the Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual, produced by Terratreme Filmes and Monomito Argumentistas, and the short film of the real THÉATRON. Working in the film field since 2003, he has worked as an editor for short fiction films, documentaries and plays by different companies. In 2013, he began working with director Fernand Melgar in Switzerland as assistant editor on the feature documentary L’ABRI (international competition at the Locarno Film Festival) and assistant director on his latest film L’ÉCOLE DES PHILOSOPHES. He worked on the editing of the documentaries, BAB SEBTA directed by Pedro Pinho and Frederico Lobo (Prix Esperance Award at FidMarseille, best Portuguese film at DocLisboa, 2008), MEU CARO AMIGO CHICO directed by Joana Barra Vaz, selected for the International Competition of the São Paulo International Film Festival and for IndieLisboa, 2011. He co-founded the Monomito Argumentistas cooperative in 2006.
