ALI, AQUI, a film produced within the framework of the community cinema project ATLAS ALMADA, arrives in Portuguese cinemas on May 28.

ATLAS ALMADA is an artistic and educational project that combines film education with the making of a film about a specific territory — Monte da Caparica.

We began with questions: Which places do we want to portray? What is important to show? Which stories do we want to tell? From the very first session, seeds were planted. Session by session, exercise by exercise, we gradually created a map of the Monte da Caparica neighbourhood, made up of places, events and characters. We collected stories and explored how they intersected with the history of the neighbourhood and the history of the country, while noting the questions we wanted the film to reflect upon.

The Atlas Almada project is produced by Terratreme Filmes, with support from Comunidades em Ação, Almada City Council, the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, PRR – Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência, NextGenerationEU and in partnership with Centro Social Paroquial Cristo Rei.

We are very proud to announce that the short films HOW WE GOT MOTHER BACK by Gonçalo Waddington; SOL MENOR by André Silva Santos; and JUDITE, OR THE FIRST REBELLION by Pedro Carneiro have been nominated in several categories at the Curtas Awards. The event will take place on April 11.

The feature films Balane 3 by Ico Costa, Bulakna by Leonor Noivo, and Explode São Paulo, Gil by Maria Clara Escobar will be released in Portuguese cinemas.

🏆 We are pleased to announce that the short film WHEN THE LAND RUNS AWAY by Frederico Lobo won the award for Best Documentary Short Film at the Baku International Film Festival.
The film is a co-production with Rua Escura.

It is with deep sorrow and sadness that we mark the passing of Gita Cerveira, a colleague with whom we were working on the film Aleluia, and who had previously collaborated with us on other films.

We are deeply grateful for all the moments we shared together, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to Gita Cerveira’s family, friends, and colleagues.

It is with deep regret and sadness that we communicate the death of Léa Alves, actress of the film DRY GROUND BURNING, directed by Joana Pimenta and Adirley Queirós, and in other films we were currently filming.

We are deeply thankful for all these years with Léa Alves and we extend a heartfelt embrace to the directors, and especially to Léa Alves’ family and friends.

We are very happy to announce that the documentary 𝗕𝗨𝗟𝗔𝗞𝗡𝗔, by Leonor Noivo, received the Renaud Victor Prize yesterday at FIDMarseille.

About the Renaud Victor Prize:
“With the agreement and support of the Interregional Directorate of Prison Services PACA–Corsica, the Marseille Prison Center, and the CNC, the association Lieux Fictifs and FIDMarseille carry out a joint initiative that brings the festival event to the Les Baumettes prison facility in Marseille, in real time with the rest of the festival.

A selection of around ten films from the competition is shown to an audience made up of incarcerated participants and volunteers. Those who follow the entire program may, if they wish, become jury members and take part in selecting the winning film. Each film is presented and discussed with the support of FID staff and, whenever possible, in the presence of the filmmakers themselves.”
